… Building Safer Communities Together
Last year, the
Ontario Police Department
began utilizing a new
community notification system known as
Nixle
).
Nixle
utilizes the latest technology to instantly deliver valuable, time sensitive
information directly to the community in a variety of formats that include text,
email and/or web messages.
Example messages may include; detailed information about a missing
child or missing adult, a public safety emergency that requires residents to
stay in or remain away from their homes or traffic advisory advising
commuters to detour around a particular area.
The Ontario Police Department encourages community members to
register for this free service so they can stay informed and instantly
connected to valuable information that is provided to the community.
This service is secure, reliable and easy to use. Subscribers decide what
specific information is wanted and whether it is sent
to a cell phone, email or simply over the web.
Registration is quick, easy and free of charge. To sign
up or obtain further information, just visit the Nixle
Community Information Service web site at
.
The City of Ontario will only
be allowing yard sales to occur
on four weekends throughout
the year.
The upcoming 2014
Yard Sale Weekends are:
August 1, 2 and 3.
Dates will be
posted on the City’s website.
Residents will no longer need to go to City Hall to get a garage sale
permit.
Items for sale must be used merchandise that was owned by the
household. One 6 square foot sign can be placed in the front yard to
advertise the sale. After August 6, 2010, holding a garage sale on any other
days, besides the weekends designated by the City, will result in a possible
citation or fine.
The City is limiting the dates for yard sales to help prevent traffic and
parking problems in our neighborhoods, and to keep the City attractive.
