If you are an Ontario resident and are currently at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless, we have programs that may be able to assist you through the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP). HPRP is a federally funded homelessness prevention and homeless assistance program that provides services and financial assistance to homeless and at-risk households on a short-term basis. Listed below are the types of financial assistance that are included in the program:
- Short-term rental or rental arrears assistance (up to two months)
- Utility payments (up to two months)
- Security deposits, and
- Utility deposits
You may be eligible if:
- You currently are renting housing, but are are at risk of homelessness if you do not receive this one-time only financial assistance; or
- you are homeless, living in emergency/transitional shelters, hotels/motels, or on the street, and need temporary assistance to find housing and keep it.
In addition, you must:
- Be under the 2010 State Income Limits listed below by household size:

- Be able to retain the housing after this one-time assistance is provided; and
