Communications personnel consist of a Communications Manager, 2 Assistant Communications Managers, one responsible for Police Operations and one responsible for Fire Operations, and 30 Public Safety Dispatchers.

In addition to Communications responsibilities for the Ontario Police Department, the Communications Division handles Fire dispatching services for Ontario as well as Chino, Montclair and Upland. In 2007 the Communications

Center handled 122,970 calls for Police services and 56,966 calls for fire services.

Public Safety Dispatchers are highly dedicated people who complete a three week intensive academy which is administered by the State of California. Supplemental training is on-going through a structured program implemented by the Department.

Communications is a state of the art facility which is streamlined through the use of a state of the art Computer Aided Dispatch System, which integrates with the police and fire records management system.
