The City adopted a new land use plan as part of The Ontario Plan in 2010. Since that time, staff has been working on determining which properties will require zone changes in order to be consistent with The Ontario Plan. The TOP-Zoning Consistency Project will help bring into alignment the general plan designations approved in The Ontario Plan and zoning. In some cases new zones are being created to reach TOP-Zoning consistency and in other cases the land use designation will need to be modified to make the land use designation consistent with existing uses and intensities which were expected to be retained.
The TOP-Zoning Consistency Project has been broken up into multiple phases. Phase 1 includes Zone Changes for properties that will be changed to an existing zone category. Phase 2 includes Zone Changes for properties that will be changed to a new zone category that is being created. Phase 3 includes Zone Changes for properties where further assessment and analysis is needed.
Open Houses to inform the impacted property owners of the proposed changes are in the process of being scheduled. After each meeting, the proposed changes will be available for review by their Open House date:
