Setbacks
A setback is the distance a building or structure is required to be from your property line. For example, the closest a house can be to the front property line, in the R1 zone is 20 feet. The 20 feet is the setback for the front yard.
Required setbacks can vary depending on the zoning of the property. There are also different setbacks for accessory structures.
