The vision of the New Model Colony has become a reality. Last year, Brookfield Homes opened its first phase of homes at Edenglen, the New Model Colony’s first community. provide new upscale homes to accommodate more than 120,000 new residents, which will almost double Ontario’s current population and make it one of the five largest cities in California.
The New Model Colony is convenient to LA/Ontario International Airport; job centers in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties; great shopping, dining and entertainment at Ontario Mills and Victoria Gardens- plus residents will have access to Ontario’s new City-owned Citizens Business Bank Arena- opening in fall 2008. Additionally, this center-of-it-all location is within easy reach of desert, mountain and coastal resorts.
Ontario’s New Model Colony is the portion of the former San Bernardino County Agricultural Preserve annexed by the City in 1999. The New Model Colony encompasses approximately 8,200 acres and is bounded by Riverside Drive to the north, Milliken Avenue and Hamner Avenue to the east, the Riverside County line and Merrill Avenue to the south, and Euclid Avenue to the west.
The New Model Colony is becoming a place of diversity--encompassing a mix of residential neighborhoods, high intensity neighborhood centers, employment centers, and numerous entertainment options and amenities that will serve as the common focal point for all neighborhoods and districts.
Each neighborhood and district will become a place that is uniquely identifiable for its residents, employees, and visitors. These places will be united through an area wide network of greenways/trails, open spaces, amenities, and infrastructure. Included in the plan is 355 acres of “Great Park” giving the New Model Colony communities recreational opportunities with networks of trails, bike paths, outdoor performance area, waterways and gardens. The New Model Colony balances personal privacy in residential neighborhoods with numerous opportunities for community socialization, interactions, and walkability.
Complete build out of the New Model Colony is expected to transpire over the next 15-20 years.
