Capital Improvement Program / Field Services

 

 

The Capital Improvement Program (CIP)/Field Services Division of the Engineering Department has the primary responsibility for streets, sidewalks, storm drain, utility relocation, and grade separation improvement projects throughout the City. The division provides the planning, design, surveying, bidding, construction inspection, and project management functions for City-sponsored CIP projects.

The division staff is dedicated to delivering projects for the benefit of all the citizens of Ontario. Our mission statement is: “To plan, design, and manage construction projects that provide lasting value to the community.”

The work includes the following: 

 

maintaining over 1,200 lane miles of pavement within the City in conjunction with the City of Ontario Municipal Utilities Agency;

rehabilitating existing street pavements, sidewalks, handicap ramps, curb and gutter, and related appurtenances throughout the City;

repairing or constructing storm drain improvements at various locations throughout the City;

providing engineering contract management and field services support all construction work with the Public Right-of-Way.
