Captain Gary Dufour | |

Captain Gary Dufour is the Special Operations Bureau Commander. He is a local native and a 1981 Graduate of Damien High School in La Verne, California. He is a graduate of the 3rd session of the Southern California Local Government Leadership Academy, College of the Extended University Cal Poly Pomona. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from California Southern Law School in Riverside, California, and is a licensed California Attorney.
Captain Dufour began his law enforcement career in 1983 as a police cadet with the Montclair Police Department. In 1984, he attended the 79th session of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Academy. He served as a Montclair Police Officer for 6 years, in Patrol, Narcotics, and as a Canine Handler. He joined the Ontario Police Department in 1990. Since that time, he has worked assignments in patrol, pro-active enforcement, narcotics, investigations, cargo theft, civil liability unit, canine unit supervisor, administrative investigations, and Area Commander.

As the Special Operations Bureau Commander, Captain Dufour is responsible for the daily operations of the Air Support Unit, COPS/MET/Gang Division, Traffic Division, K-9 Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, and SWAT/Negotiations Team.
