About the Department

 

 

PARKS AND MAINTENANCE


 

The Parks and Maintenance Department is responsible for 12 different program areas as follows:

  •  Roadway Maintenance
•  Storm Drain Maintenance
•  Park Maintenance
•  Public Grounds Maintenance
•  Contract Landscape Maintenance & Weed Abatement Trimming
•  Painting & Stripping & Sign Repair
•  Sidewalk/Curb & Gutter Maintenance
•  Contract Street Sweeping
•  Contract Tree Trimming
•  Debris Removal
•  Contract Graffiti Removal
•  Contract/Project Administration


Within these program areas, the department provides services for non-structural overlays and pothole repair, landscape and irrigation maintenance, street stripping and sign repairs, concrete repair and maintenance of sidewalk/curb/gutter, street sweeping and debris removal, graffiti abatement, and contract administration for Capital Improvement Projects.

The purpose of the department is to provide professional services that maintain city assets at a high level of upkeep for their preservation and the betterment of the quality of life throughout the City.


Mission Statement

To create and energize community growth by enhancing the quality of life in the City of Ontario through professional maintenance services and preservation of parkland, public facilities and city infrastructure.

 

  •  Facilitate productive and positive service to community citizenry through the department's management philosophy, structure, culture and employees.

•  Develop and maintain a Work Management System as a management tool to meet customer service requests and department services in a professional and efficient approach.

•  Develop and maintain master plans for parkland and recreational services, public right-of-way for trees, sidewalk, and curb/gutter.

•  Research and implement technology and industry advancements to enhance services.
