Communications
The Communications Division is under the direction of the Special Operations Bureau Commander. The Division is staffed twenty four hours a day to respond to requests from citizens and the officers in the field.

Communications personnel consist of a Communications Manager, 2 Assistant Communications Managers, one responsible for Police Operations and one responsible for Fire Operations, and 30 Public Safety Dispatchers. |

In addition to Communications responsibilities for the Ontario Police Department, the Communications Division handles Fire dispatching services for Ontario as well as Chino, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland. In 2007 |
the Communications Center handled 122,970 calls for Police services and 56,966 calls for fire services.
Public Safety Dispatchers are highly dedicated people who complete a three week intensive academy which is administered by the State of California. Supplemental training is on-going through a structured program implemented by the Department.
Communications is a state of the art facility which is streamlined through the use of a state of the art Computer Aided Dispatch System, which integrates with the police and fire records management system.
