Outreach Program: Ontario History on the Go!

An exciting one-hour program can be brought to your classroom! Ontario History on the Go is an educational local history program about the founding and early history of the City of Ontario from the 1880s to the early 1900s. History comes alive in your classroom through a museum educator or docent’s interpretation of hands-on teaching materials including: historic photographs, artifacts and games. Included in this outreach program is a packet of follow-up activities for your class. A school may reserve more than one session per day when scheduling outreach programs.

Volunteer Docent Program

The Museum of History and Art, Ontario is looking for people who enjoy local, regional and California History, as well as Art History and appreciation. The cornerstone of the docent program will be learning information to lead tours through the museum’s two permanent exhibits, Road Ways and Gem of the Foothills. Training topics will vary each week giving the docents a broad view of information needed to conduct fun and successful tours. If you have a friendly, enthusiastic character and are willing to speak to groups of people, particularly children and young people, this program’s for you!
