PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION TO VACATE THE ALLEY BETWEEN TRANSIT STREET AND HOLT BOULEVARD, APPROXIMATELY 235 FEET EAST OF EUCLID AVENUE

Meeting Date: January 20, 2009
Section: Public Hearings

SUBJECT: A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION TO VACATE the alley between Transit Street and Holt Boulevard, approximately 235 feet east of euclid Avenue

RECOMENDATION: That the City Council conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of a Resolution vacating the alley between Transit Street and Holt Boulevard approximately 235 feet east of Euclid Avenue.

COUNCIL GOALS: Invest in the Growth and Evolution of the City’s Economy

  • Work with the private sector to encourage core community revitalization with emphasis on Downtown, Holt Boulevard, Mountain Avenue and the Central Industrial and Part 150 areas.

FISCAL IMPACT: None. The City did not pay to acquire this right of way. Vacating this right of way to the current owner/applicant does not impose any additional cost to the City.

BACKGROUND: The applicant, Ontario Redevelopment Agency, has requested that the City vacate the alley located approximately 235 feet east of Euclid Avenue between Transit Street and Holt Boulevard as shown on Resolution Exhibits “A” and “B” to optimize the development of the property. There are no public utilities in the alley. Since this alley is not needed for traffic circulation, there will be no impact on the Master Plan of the Streets when it is vacated.

On December 2, 2008, the City Council, at its regular meeting, adopted Resolution No. 2008-124 declaring the City’s intent to vacate the subject right of way as shown on the attached exhibits, and setting the date and time for this Public Hearing. Appropriate notice of intention to vacate, as required by law, has been posted on the site. Also, an announcement of the January 20, 2009 Public Hearing was published in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin prior to this meeting and the full text of Resolution No. 2008-124 has been made available at the Records Management Department.
