Support Services
ACQUISITIONS:
After the various library units make book and audiovisual selections, the Acquisitions staff orders the materials. When boxes of materials arrive, the materials are unpacked, received and paid for.

CATALOGING:
The Cataloging staff adds a bibliographic record for each title in our online catalog. The bib record describes the title and shows how many copies are owned by the library and if they are located at Ovitt Family Community Library or Colony High Branch Library. |

PROCESSING:
The Processing staff adds spine labels, genre labels, and other labels of information to the book, video, DVD, CD, or cassette to make them easier to find on the shelf.

MAGAZINES:
The Magazine staff orders and receives all magazine and newspaper subscriptions held by the Ovitt library. All items are added to the catalog, labeled, and placed on the shelves as quickly as possible. Staff at our Colony High Branch order, receive and process their magazine and newspaper subscriptions.
Besides new materials being ordered and made shelf ready, the Support Services staff is constantly working on older materials to make them more user friendly. Call numbers may be changed to put them with similar new materials, or spine labels are changed on audiovisual materials to make them easier to find on the shelf. When something is damaged, the item is repaired, so more people can enjoy it.
Support Services is also responsible for the daily delivery of materials between Ovitt and Colony High Branch. This allows you, the customer, to have access to material at either location.
