VolunTeens

GET INVOLVED!  TEENS, meet new people and make new friends while having fun and contributing something positive and valuable to your community!

Teens 16 years and older are eligible to be part of the VolunTeen Program.  VolunTeens work closely with Children’s Services staff and are an invaluable asset to the library and the community.  The program also provides an excellent opportunity to gain real work experience. VolunTeens are expected to perform like employees and to follow rules and policies as if they were paid.  VolunTeens who do a good job will be given letters of recommendation and, of course, volunteer experience is always helpful when applying for college or a job.

VolunTeens work at the library doing a variety of jobs, including: helping to register children for Summer Reading Clubs, preparing materials for craft and special programs, shelving and straightening books, creating posters to advertise programs, and working on special library projects.  At the end of the summer, VolunTeens are in charge of running carnival booths for the children who participated in the Summer Reading Clubs.   Teens who worked at least 20 hours will be invited to a special VolunTeen Appreciation party and receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
