Ontario Police have identified the suspect responsible for a homicide which occurred at De Anza Park on September 18, 2018. 

The incident took place at approximately 4:57 PM when the suspect, Marquis Brooks, used a handgun to fatally shoot Michael Carreno, a 27-year-old male from Ontario. 

Ontario Investigators were able to identify Brooks, a 20-old-male from Ontario, who is currently in custody in San Diego County on an unrelated charge. Brooks is awaiting transfer to San Bernardino County where he will be booked on the charge of murder with a gang enhancement.

 Traffic investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit and run collision. 

On November 8, 2018 at approximately 5:33 PM, a 75 year old Ontario resident was struck by a motorist while attempting to cross the street in the intersection of N. Mountain Avenue and W. Flora Street. After the collision, the suspect vehicle continued to drive south on N. Mountain Avenue. 

The suspect vehicle is a plum colored 2004-2006 Scion XB. The vehicle should have collision damage to the front of the vehicle.

The Ontario Police Department has been awarded a $495,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a year-long enforcement and public awareness program. The traffic safety program is intended to educate the public on safe roadway habits and deter people from violating traffic laws or practicing other unsafe behaviors that lead to injuries and fatalities. “With this year’s grant funding from OTS, our dedicated and experienced Traffic Division will continue to make the streets of Ontario a safe haven for travel. The City of Ontario had hundreds of young ghosts, ghouls and goblins pack the Anthony Munoz Community Center Friday night to get a sneak peek of the facility’s upcoming expansion and – in a fitting Halloween twist – leave their imprint for all eternity.

The center, at 1240 W. Fourth St., combined its annual Halloween party with a preview of the renovation project, which will nearly quadruple the center’s size and significantly increase the number of community program and class offerings.

The City of Ontario is pleased to announce the next citywide yard (garage) sale weekend is Friday, November 2nd through Sunday, November 4, 2018. If rainy conditions occur on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on November 9, 10, and 11, 2018. 

In 2010, the City adopted a yard sale ordinance giving residents the opportunity to hold more sales each year on fixed dates and eliminating the need for yard sale permits and fees.
